Interpreting Low ML in Viscoelastometry

Low ML should not always be assumed to represent hyperfibrinolysis or normal fibrinolysis.

Low maximum lysis values may reflect fibrinolysis resistance rather than fibrinolytic activity.

True fibrinolytic capacity may be better assessed using assays that directly challenge the fibrinolytic system, such as a tPA-challenge assay.
