A recent proof-of-concept study published in Neurol. Int. 2025 has assessed the effectiveness of ClotPro® viscoelastic point-of-care testing in quickly evaluating DOAC activity among acute ischemic stroke patients to assist in intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) decisions.
ClotPro® successfully identified 37.5% (15 patients) as having subtherapeutic levels, allowing 7 of them to undergo IVT. This highlights the potential of real-time whole blood hemostatic assessment at the point of care to broaden IVT eligibility in cases where patient history is ambiguous. This advancement represents a significant stride towards enhancing the safety and efficiency of stroke care decision-making.
